The Metro Detroit League Started by Three Sisters Who Had No Idea What They Stumbled Upon

Okay, imma need you to come sit by me for just a few minutes, because boy do we need to chat about my new favorite origin story.

Grab a lusty libation ladies, because this story starts in Metro Detroit with three sisters, Kyrstyn, Jordyn, and Chandra, who were anxious to spend more intentional time with each other while also trying something new.

With all the latest buzz around golf and the growing interest among women, they said, "You know what? Let's golf." There was only one teeny tiny problem.

None of them had golfed. Like, ever.

But somewhere along the way, their unknown destiny was being manifested by all the cute golf outfits they'd already been collecting for years. And now they were about to have a reason to wear them. Honestly? Sometimes that's all the reason us girls need.

This "let's just try it" idea between these sisters is now Girls Who Golf, a 30+ member community in Metro Detroit that seems to be growing by the week! And even though they only founded this league back in September 2025, this group has already made an impact by being the room and the safe space so many women have been looking for.

They built the space they wished existed

Now here's the part that got me in the feels.

When these sisters started to show up on courses, they learned firsthand what a lot of us already know deep in our core. Golf can be intimidating, exclusive, and jam-packed with a thousand unwritten rules whose answers aren't easily found.

But these ladies? Shrink and run away? Not. A. Chance. They did the boldest thing possible.

They built the space they wished had existed for them. A welcoming spot to learn together, laugh at the truly terrible shots, cheer and lose your mind over the good ones, and yep…finally get to wear all the cute fits.

Girls Who Golf, like so many other leagues, isn't about being the best golfer out there. It's about creating real connections, cheering each other on, and proving that communities like this one start with the people who had absolutely no idea what they were doing, but did it anyway. Iconic, honestly.

So who's it for? (spoiler: you)

There isn't a skill level they don't accommodate.

Golfed for years? Come on down.
Dusting off those clubs you used in college? Welcome back, my dear.
Picking up a club for the first time? LFG. You're in the right place.
Just here for the vibes and pics for the 'gram? Girl, this was made for you.

Logistically, these ladies couldn't have made it any easier. It's public, events run monthly, and the membership is zero dollars and zero cents.

No dues. No application. No hoops.

Just keep an eye on their Instagram to see where the next meetup is happening and head on over.

You don't have to be good, ya just gotta show up!

Bigger than a round of golf

Something that makes me wanna catch a flight to Michigan and hug these ladies is that their golf community doesn't end when you walk off the 18th green.

Girls Who Golf continually goes out of their way to support and highlight other women-owned businesses, which has turned this group into an engine of collaboration and connection.

But it gets better.

As they grow, they're leaning into philanthropy too. Giving back to their community and working to make the game more accessible for the next generation of women coming up right behind them.

Because when all is said and done, they'll even tell you themselves…golf doesn't have to be so serious. There's plenty of room for more women on the course, and it's totally okay if your favorite part is the outfit. But I have a feeling that once you're immersed in this community of theirs, you'll start to feel like this was a space you should've been in all along, no matter which golf skirt got you there.

How to get in on it

If you're anywhere near Metro Detroit, go follow @Girls_Who_Golf_ and watch for their next monthly meetup. And if you're not local? Their DMs are wide open. They're always down to connect with women, brands, and organizations near and far, so don't be shy.

I'm honestly so proud of these sisters who didn't golf and built another corner to add to our women's golf community in just a matter of months. Hopefully it's the proof you need that you don't have to have it all figured out to start something beautiful.

Go show up. Wear the cute outfit. Laugh at the bad shots. Because you belong out there.
